Barack Obama only got one shot to follow up Eminem — and he didn’t blow that opportunity. When the rapper introduced the former president at a Detroit rally for Kamala Harris on October 22, it was Obama who was feeling starstruck. “I gotta say, you know, have done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous,” Obama said, “but I was feeling some kinda way following Eminem.” Then 44 started rapping (okay, maybe emphatically speaking at first) Eminem’s hit “Lose Yourself” to cheers from the crowd. “I thought Eminem was gonna be performing, I was gonna jump out!” he added. “Love, love me some Eminem.” Em, for his part, kept things pretty serious, saying Vice-President Harris would protect freedom of speech. Including, apparently, the right to lose yourself in the music.
