These days, trends come and go at a dizzying pace. Especially in the home decorating space, it can be hard to keep up with what’s trendy and what’s on its way out. And since switching up your furniture and decor typically requires more of an investment than, say, snagging a new pair of trendy sandals, you want to make sure that when you decide to dip your toes into a trend, it’s something you really love. That’s why I’ve always aimed for timeless over trendy in my own home decor, but the latest design fad I’m seeing everywhere happens to tick both boxes. Stripes have always been a design classic, but recently, they’ve evolved into a full-blown trend.
Thanks to the proliferation of trends like the fisherman aesthetic and pattern drenching, striped decor has emerged from the classic design playbook to the forefront of current trends. Stripes are splashed all over the latest collections from brands like Anthropologie and Lulu and Georgia, and their timelessness is a huge part of the appeal.
